How to measure a dog for a harness?

Use a sewing tape measure or string, which you then measure with a tape measure.

Neck circumference: Wrap a tape measure around the lower part of the neck, wearing the collar a little lower than usual - somewhere above the shoulders. When measuring, allow for enough extra space to fit two fingers between the tape measure and your dog's neck, which will allow for a comfortable fit of the harness or collar.

Chest circumference: Wrap a tape measure around the widest part of the chest - about three fingers behind the front paws or behind the shoulder blades. Do not leave extra room here, but use the measured measurement.
